Demon Slayer: 5 facts about Akaza that you didn't know!

Akaza is one of the most powerful demons and the biggest threat to Tanjiro and his friends, especially in Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Train. Akaza is a powerful and stubborn demon who likes to fight, especially against powerful demon killers. He patronizes all those he deems weak, but he respects those he considers worthy of fighting.

There are several fascinating facts about Akaza from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba that you probably didn't know. Without further ado, let's get into it!

1. Remains alive even after being decapitated by a Nichirin blade

When a demon has its head cut off by a Nichirin blade, most of the time it will die. However, there are demons that do not die after being beheaded, and one of them is Akaza.

For this reason, the only way to defeat Akaza is to expose him to the sun.

2. One of Muzan's favorite demons

Of the many demons close to Muzan, Akaza is one of his favorites because of his loyalty and serious attitude. Akaza is probably the only demon that almost reaches Muzan's level - except for his ability to stay alive after being beheaded. 

3. He refuses to eat women

Akaza refuses to eat a woman even though he can gain powers by doing so as a demon. It turns out that this is related to Akaza's past. Akaza is the only one of the Twelve Kizuki who doesn't eat women while having insurmountable power.

Obviously, Akaza holds the title "Upper Rank 3" and is the fourth strongest demon in the series without killing or eating women.

4. Has the most tragic past

In Kimetsu no Yaiba , Akaza is probably a character with the most tragic past. Before being transformed into a demon, Akaza was a human named Hakuji . Hakuji was born in a poor area and had to take care of his sick father.

In order to cure his father's illness, Hakuji had to steal money from the townspeople and would end up getting caught several times. Unfortunately, his father committed suicide after he knew that Hakuji had stolen to get the medicine he needed to stay alive.

Devastated by the loss of his father and angry at his neighbors, he one day meets Keizo, a dojo owner who helps Hakuji by giving him a new "home."

Keizo brought Hakuji in so that he could take care of his sick daughter, Koyuki. Shortly after living with them, Hakuji became engaged to Koyuki.

The heir of the rival dojo got the rumor about the marriage of Hakuji and Koyuki. They gathered several members of the dojo to fight Hakuji, but they were defeated by him. After the incident, Hakuji found out that they had poisoned the water of the dojo. Koyuki and Keizo died shortly after drinking the water without knowing it.

Furious, Hakuji killed the 67 rival dojo members with his bare hands, crushing them to the point that their bodies became unrecognizable.

This incident piqued the interest of Muzan Kibutsuji, although he was disappointed to learn that the atrocious act was committed by a human. So he decided to turn Hakuji into a demon, joining the Twelve Kizuki.

Since he had no one to care for and no will to live anymore, Hakuji accepted the offer and turned into a demon named Akaza.
