History of the Blue Lock anime :

Blue Lock is a shonen sports anime written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It is serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine.

The story begins with Japan's elimination from the 2018 Football World Cup, prompting the Japan Football Union to launch a screening program for high school players who will begin training for the 2022 Cup. Isagi Yoichi, a striker, receives an invitation to the program shortly after his team lost the chance to go to the national championships because he passed to his less-qualified teammate - who missed out - without trying to make the decisive goal on his own.

Their coach will be Ego Jinpachi, who intends to "destroy Japanese losing soccer" by introducing a radical new training regime: isolating 300 young strikers in a prison-like institution called "Blue Lock" and subjecting them to rigorous training aimed at creating "the world's greatest selfish striker.

A spin-off entitled Blue Lock - Episode Nagi illustrated by Kota Sannomiya debuted on June 9, 2022 in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.
