⛩ The Exploration Battalion is one of the three Army Corps making up the Paradise Army, along with the Garrison and the Special Brigades.
As its name suggests, it is a section specialized in investigations, patrols and external expeditions of the Walls about the Titans, from their origin to the study of the possibilities of their extermination. As such, it is considered a suicide unit since humans are supposed to be "helpless" against the Titans, and an average of 30% of the workforce perish during operations.

Since the Fall of Shiganshina, the Exploration Battalion's goal has been to give back to human beings the freedom they once lost during the Titans' invasion and the destruction of the Maria Wall. This is why their insignia represents two wings, called "wings of freedom". Following the revelation in Eren's basement, the Exploration Battalion turned their attention to the outside world and more specifically to the Mahr people.
